The new Avondale Center is a mixed use development that includes 119 mixed income rental apartments and over 75,000 square feet of commercial space, including a health center, grocery store, cafes, and other retail/office space.  The new, pedestrian-oriented, mixed use development creates a vibrant new neighborhood center in the heart of Cincinnati’s Avondale community.  The Center features vibrant ground-floor amenities, contemporary apartments, residential amenities, and  LEED Certified green design.

The project is being developed by The Community Builders (TCB), in partnership with the Avondale Coalition of Churches and the Avondale Development Corporation.  Project financing is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Cincinnati, LISC, JP Morgan/Chase, US Bank, Cincinnati Development Fund, RBC Capital Markets, Uptown Consortium, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, and the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.

Avondale Center is the third and final phase of the years-long Avondale Choice Neighborhoods transformation supported by a $29.5 million Choice Neighborhoods grant which was received in December 2012 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Over the last five years, the grant has supported the revitalization or the construction of 319 apartment homes at The Pointes at Avondale for families with a range of incomes along the Reading Road corridor, along with neighborhood investments in commercial development, in the new Avondale Business Center, and broad services supporting resident and family success.
