Avondale Town Center Redevelopment  – Frequently Asked Questions

What is happening at Avondale Town Center?  The Community Builders (TCB) has partnered with the Avondale Coalition of Churches and the Avondale Comprehensive Development Corporation on the full redevelopment of the existing Town Center and adjoining vacant land north of Lee Place.  The development will include 119 apartment homes and over 75,000 square feet of retail space in three buildings.  The project is the third and final development phase of the Choice Neighborhoods initiative led by TCB.

What’s happening to the existing stores at Town Center or to Carmel Presbyterian Church?  CitiTrends, City Gear, Rent A Center and Carmel Presbyterian Church will all remain open throughout construction and once the new Avondale Center is operational.

Can customers or Carmel congregants and visitors park at the Town Center?  TCB and our partners are committed to working with our retailers and neighbors to make sure customers or congregants have access to on-site parking and to building entrances throughout construction, and that there is adequate signage and lighting.  Construction workers will not park in areas dedicated to retail/church parking, but instead will park inside the construction fence or on side streets.

How do I know which entrance/exit to use?  As construction progresses, the specifics of getting into and around the site will shift.  Please refer to signs posted throughout the project, which will be updated or relocated as needed.

Who is the builder?  HGC Construction, in partnership with RWB Properties & Construction

What time are work hours?  Generally, work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

How do I inquire about construction job opportunities?  Prospective job candidates can submit employment applications via HGC’s web link ( or RWB’s web link (  In the coming months we will create a “Job Board” at the construction sites with opportunities and job/skills information posted.

 When will the project be complete?  Construction will be complete by Spring 2019.
